Tax season without the paperwork chase.
Every accounting firm runs the same spring ritual: a long intake form, chased slips, and calls to ask about rental income. HSY Media replaced it with one conversation clients actually finish, under each firm’s own brand.
What it was. What it is now.
- A long, generic intake form that asks everyone everything
- Slips and receipts chased by email for weeks
- Answers and documents re-keyed by hand into the client file
- Sensitive documents travelling by email
- A guided conversation that asks only what applies to each client
- Documents uploaded in the chat, from a phone, in one sitting
- A complete, organised file delivered to the firm automatically
- Private document storage, sent only to that client’s accountant
Every accounting firm runs the same ritual each spring: a long intake form, chased slips by email, and calls to ask whether a client had rental income this year. It’s slow for the client and unbillable for the firm, and it lands in the busiest weeks of the year.
HSY Media (Ontario) saw a product in that pain. Its founder, Arman Hosseiny, wanted to sell accounting firms a better front door: TaxRequest, where clients hand over everything the accountant needs in a conversation, not a form, each firm offering it under its own brand. He found Levelfeed through a public product demo and hired us two days later.
What we found first
We mapped a firm’s intake season end to end, from the first email to a client to the moment the accountant can start work.
| What we found | What it cost | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| Intake ran on long, generic forms that ask everyone everything | Clients abandon them, or fill them in wrong | Automated: a guided conversation that asks only what applies to each client |
| Slips and receipts chased by email for weeks | Est. 1–2 hours of chasing per client in the busiest weeks of the year | Automated: documents uploaded in the chat, from a phone, in one sitting |
| Answers and documents re-keyed from forms and emails into the client file | Admin time and errors | Automated: a complete, organised file delivered to the firm |
| Sensitive documents (ID numbers, income slips) travelled by email | A privacy risk for the firm | Automated: private document storage, sent only to that client’s accountant |
| Clients who speak other languages needed extra help | Longer intake and more mistakes | Automated: multilingual intake, including Farsi, right to left |
| Every firm needed its own look | A new build per firm would kill the product’s margin | Automated: each firm’s branding loaded from one central setup; a new firm live in minutes |
| Engagement letters and signatures | A separate manual step | Parked: phase 2 |
| Direct import into tax software | The accountant still moves the data across | Parked: phase 2 |
Estimates are the working figures we used to rank the list, not numbers reported by the client.
One conversation, one complete file
For clients, and for the firm
- A guided conversation replaces a long intake form, asking only what applies to them
- Upload slips and receipts from their phone, in one sitting
- It speaks their language, including Farsi
- Files arrive complete and organised, documents attached, instead of trickling in over weeks
- Less time chasing clients means more of tax season goes on billable work
- Carries the firm’s own name and branding; clients never see TaxRequest
- In use by real firms, including Matin Accounting, which tested it end to end before rollout
“I appreciate your professionalism Dabeer, your work here means the most.”
